Elevate x Red, White & Blue

Happy (almost) Fourth of July! How else shall we celebrate than with a few spirited, and on theme, cocktails and mocktails? Us as Americans, and even more specifically flight attendants, know how to do this best.

In these recipes we’ve mixed the national colors that represent this holiday, with our own elevated twist. While they may not be your classic red, white and blue, these cocktails have been dreamt up to mix bright flavors, ingredients that echo wellness and promote a good time.

“One of my favorite sunny day activities is Tequila. Tequila mixed with a bit of citrus, a bit of something sweet—and if you make it my way, it has a bit extra for relaxation (thank you Recess Lime Citrus). I love this cocktail because it’s light, easy to make and you’re putting in really good-for-you ingredients.” -Virginia, Co-Founder Elevate.

Margaritas in the Moonlight

They’ve got a cooler full of cold Coronas and Amstel Light… but we prefer our margaritas.

Ingredients

4-5 oz. Vita Coco Pressed Coconut Water, Pressed Coconut

Recess Lime Citrus (to top off to your liking)

1 1/2 oz. Tequila (or more if you’re feeling extra patriotic)

1/2 oz. Fresh Lime Juice

1/4 oz. Triple Sec

Black Lava Salt, optional

Ice

In a glass add ice, top with the tequila followed by the lime juice, triple sec and then about 4 ounces of the coconut water, leaving about an inch of room. Lastly top with Recess, to taste, stir and top with a lime (option to add black lava salt for a skosh of savory) wedge.

To make this a mocktail, omit the tequila + triple sec and add more Recess, and for a skosh more flavor, try a tajin rim and a bit of jalapeño.

Anyone can make a strawberry margarita, a kir royale, or perhaps even a sangria—all vibrantly red and all delightful. This cocktail, that can also be made to be zero-proof, is meant to be dreamy, breezy, not too sweet and just a bit like the blooms in grandmas garden; red, simple, and reminiscent.

Born in the USA

Ingredients

3-4 strawberries

4 sprigs of mint

Squeeze of Lemon

Recess Strawberry Rose

1/4 oz. Simple Syrup (or preferred sweetener)

Strawberry & dried rose petals for garnish (optional)

A mocktail for the simple & summery crowd. To start, muddle 3-4 strawberries in the bottom of a shaker or directly in the glass, adding a squeeze of lemon and a 1/4 oz of simple syrup and the mint leaves—muddling until almost a puree. Fill the glass with ice and add your Recess, Strawberry Rose. Garnish how you’d like, we used Strawberry and dried rose petals.

Voila, you’ve got a stroll through grandma’s garden in a cup, the epitome of what reminds you of home.

To make this drink a cocktail, we like to forgo the simple syrup and add 1/2 oz of elderflower liqueur (or rose liqueur, to add to the delicious Recess Rose flavor) and 1 oz of gin to truly walk through the metaphorical botanical garden.

Rhythm & Blues

Not a pink carnation, but a blue chevy that went down to the levy. A very sophisticated levy, with a cocktail shaker in the glove compartment.

Ingredients : 2 servings

4 oz. vodka

6 oz. prosecco

6 oz. lemonade

1-2 tsp. blue spirulina powder

Put lemonade and vodka in shaker with ice, add 1-2 tsp. color preference of spirulina.

To jeuje it up, take a lemon to the rim and roll the glass in blue cornflower or butterfly pea edible dried flowers and add a lemon twist.

Pour into a highball glass with ice and top with a splash of Prosecco.

*best paired with American Pie, not whiskey and rye

We wish you all a memorable and peaceful Fourth of July! Whether you be in the United States or far away; home or the furthest from it. We hope you find a way to celebrate and reminisce.
